A Russian Jewish émigré, businessman and passionate Wagner enthusiast, Moisés Odnoposoff named his first child, born in Buenos Aires on 24 February 1914, Richard.
Although Moisés (Mauricio in his adopted homeland of Argentina) dabbled on the violin (an unrequited love) and his wife Juana (née Tauber Weinstein) sang a bit, neither were gifted musically. Nonetheless, they produced three distinguished concert-level musicians: Richard (Ricardo), a violinist; Adolfo (1917-1992), a cellist, and Nélida (1919- ), a pianist.
